Now that midsummer is here we have been able to see most of what the garden has to offer. It’s hard to believe we’ve been here for less than four months!
What we have discovered is that we are going to be very busy this winter and next spring with at least three of the major borders requiring a revamp and an injection of new plants. We have already tidied up a couple of areas and added Monarda hybride ‘Mahogany’ to follow on from Euphorbia griffithii ‘Fireglow’ in a corner that was looking a little empty.
We have added some Echinacea ‘Sunset Shades’ and ‘The Big Kahuna’ plus Helenium hoopesii and lovely gold Crocosmia ‘Sunglow’ to bulk out the hot border. And we have managed to fit in a handful of The Flower Bulb Company’s dahlias around the garden.
Meanwhile we are pouring over websites to choose some rather splendid new plants for the pastel cottage border, the sunken garden and the dark border. Exciting times!
