We’ve had some beautiful weather during our first month at Poppy Cottage Garden. In fact it didn’t rain for four weeks (apart from one very sudden and very brief hailstorm!), that is not until the Early May Bank Holiday. Then it rained all day Sunday and all day Monday! We did still get some intrepid visitors despite the weather.

I was wondering whether the garden would have that tricky late-spring phase where the spring bulbs had finished and the herbaceous plants are yet to flower, but that is not the case. More plants and shrubs are flowering every day and the garden is positively glowing after two days of rain.

When the air is still you can smell the wonderful scents of pink lily of the valley and a nearby honeysuckle. The rhododendrons and azaleas look spectacular on the woodland path and the borders are beginning to fill with herbaceous growth.

Come and join us for a coffee or a cream tea and browse the plants for sale!
